Mani Gatto

Mani Gatto is an independent photographer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her work alternates between fashion, editorial and personal work. Black and white photography is the majority of her work, but when color appears the palette is transformed.

With the help of Argentinian photographer Andy Chervniasky, Gatto became the art director of his studio. Her career has led her to work for Dior and Adidas.

What are you working on right now?

In Argentina we are in high winter season and I am working on several campaigns. Furthermore I am preparing for a project for Art Basel.

Do your parents like your work?

They’re my number one fans.

How do you determine if a work has been a success?

When a happy client calls me again.

Has your work ever gotten you into a dangerous situation?

Once, taking pictures on cliffs, there was a lot of wind. I raised the flash in my hands, and the wind took me flying less than a meter from the cliff. The 20 people behind the camera were left in shock.

Any upcoming art we should know about?

I am too old school. Do you have any recommendations?
